Mini Update

Moe & Justine came for a short weekend visit. We took them to the Rio and had some really good Mexican. And they were the first to sleep on our futon! *moe is our futon model

A couple Mondays ago we went to Screen on the Green in D.C. and saw Arsenic and Old Lace. There is this dance that everyone does who has been there before, its to hard to explain, it must be experienced.

Bucket List

During our engagement, one afternoon Jer and I sat in the starbucks in West Chester and started brainstorming. Each of us coming up with a list of 50 things to do before we're 50. At first it was just a fun idea, a way to have ambitions and to pursue fun things in life, dream a little. But it just hit me as I am writing this post that the Lord does call us to not be passive (favorite word of the week) christians, but to make plans, goals, ideas and enjoy our time here on this earth. I loved also getting to learn more about Jer and the things he would love to accomplish.

Psalm 20: 4 "May he grant you your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans!"

So, here are a few on my list. The first one is already crossed off. :)

1. Marry my best friend, Jeremy Bowers.
2. Have a pet that is not a fish.
3. Sew curtains.
4. Have my own vegetable garden.
5. Memorize a chapter of Romans.
6. Participate in a service project, outside of the church.
7. Make applesauce with Traci.
8. Ride in a horse drawn sleigh in the snow.
9. Start a tradition.
10. Drink Starbucks in 5 major US cities. (philly)

Whats on your bucket list?

24/7.....Psalm 121

I thought I would take time today to read and pray through Psalm 121, specifically praying for YC'08. This will be my final year going, after 7 years as a camper, 2 years as a team leader and this being my 3rd year as a part of admin. So many goofy memories, godly moments, spirit lead meetings and grace filled days. For some, youth camp is where their parents are "making" them go, some its what they've been anticipating all summer for. Thankfully as a youth, through God's kindness I for the most part was on the anticipating end. As I read through the chapter Psalm 121 and saw the numerous times that the Lord used the word "keep" in various forms, I see that the Lord has kept me. His grace has sustained my going out and my coming in. I could have traveled down the road of worldly pursuits, I could have dreaded attending camp, but as the Psalms said "the Lord is your keeper" and he is the one who "will neither slumber nor sleep". Through God's faithfulness to me, he gave me the desire to go to camp pursuing his voice, here theology preached, participating in worship, having godly fellowship and biblical friendships that I am still blessed with today. For those things I am eternally thankful.

ok...now for the fun memories:
-Paul Dooley climbing in the dumpster and pretending to be a bear.
-Mike Smith's canoe tipping multiple times.
-Green team being saved by the blue team, and the lightening storm that came when we were in the middle of the lake. (believe or not it was scary and fun at the same time)
-watching Gabe Mahalik get baptized.
-when Kenny told us that the Lord healed Sylvi.
-Burt Reynolds, "what part of go to bed do you not understand"
-Lang "helping" the girls out of the van. :)
-falling in love with Jeremy.
-going on this really secretive mission with Charity and seeing her goofy side.
-NickyD duct taped to the wall.
-Traci almost getting fired for duct taping kids to the wall....ha just kidding!
-watching one of my campers give her life to the Lord after a long discussion the night before, some times it is totally worth it to go with out sleeping.
-shaving in an outside tub with 8 other girls at Camp Daddy Allen, camp Ladore and Streamside are "5 star" campsites compared to Daddy Allen.
-last years all star admin team. shout out to megs and evie baby.
-when Curt Allen came and you saw how white Covenant Fellowship really is.

Alright, I could go on forever... add your yc memories in the comments!

ps. read Psalm 121 today, it'll take less then 5 minutes, but it will refresh your soul.
